There is SO much weight, so much fear and uncertainty, especially where you are, but we are feeling it everywhere, politics, climate, the irrationality off the charts, and yet glimmers that people are getting it and seeing what needs to change. The past week we connected in person with people for the first time in ages, thru having a yard sale, going to a pride event, then went out yesterday to be local tourists, running into people we hadn't seen in years and having hugs and catch-up chats, then went out to hear a musician we know last night, just a couple blocks from home, spent 3 hours, met a bunch of new people sharing a table on this brew pub patio, walked home at 10 p.m. We've been covid cautious so patio season (but without big crowds) is good for us, and just talking to warm, funny people, just by chance, was so good for the soul. The farmers' market is like that too. That kind of fun is not indulgent in these times, it is necessary to rebuild connection with real people in a grounded way. My handrails are beach walks and gardening, and if I can get focused, some small art making. Just clutter-cleared my studio space and bedroom closet and stuff from the basement, it's making me feel lighter too. And we need it all because there is work to do, however we can, to shine lights for hope and speak out against those wanting to kill democracy. Thanks for writing.
Wonderful message❣️
Excellent piece Allison!
Thank you. I’ve been chewing on this one for a while.
